About Us

What is PFLAG Greensboro?

PFLAG Greensboro was founded in 1993 and is the Greensboro chapter of PFLAG National. PFLAG is a nationwide network of local grassroots groups providing support, education and advocacy for LGBTQ individuals, their families and allies.

We hold monthly group support meetings as well as individual consultations. We provide support for those who seek it, education though outreach to other organizations, and advocate in the Triad, our state and federal legislatures.

Who are our members?

We are moms and dads, siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles, friends, children and allies. We are straight, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning. We come from all faith traditions.

What we have in common is our commitment to grow beyond false and harmful perceptions of LGBTQ people, to educate ourselves and our communities, and to stand up for full equal rights and protections for LGBTQ people and their loved ones.

Our Mission

By meeting people where they are and collaborating with others, PFLAG realizes its vision through:

  • Support for LGBTQ individuals, their families and allies
  • Education for ourselves and others about the unique issues and challenges facing people who are LGBTQ
  • Advocacy in our communities to change attitudes and create policies and laws that achieve full equality for LGBTQ individuals and their families

Our Vision

PFLAG envisions a world where diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, valued, and affirmed inclusive of their sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.
